Once again, a Filipina domestic worker has plunged to her death from a balcony. Theresa Otero Seda, 28, died in the Sanayeh district of Beirut. She had apparently slashed her wrists before falling.
Matthew Cassel's blog describes the scene, highlighting the off-hand attitude of emergency services and passers-by. The Daily Star also has a report: "After Seda’s body was covered, cars continued to speed along the road, at times coming close to running over her corpse."
The misery of foreign domestic workers employed by the better-off Arab families is a problem throughout the region. I
wrote about it last October in connection with Kuwait.
