Book collection for sale

Reference: World Bibliographical Series Vol. 50 -YEMEN - Paul Auchterlonie 1998 (1-85109-255-2)

From: Alan D'Arcy

I have for disposal a collection of some 560 books on the Yemen, which comprises almost all published books on this subject as set out in Paul Auchterlonie's bibliography.

The subject matter includes nearly all the major works of travel, archaeology, and epigraphy for the Yemen and for other areas in Southern Arabia. together with extracts from some of the major learned articles.

Particularly of note are three differently published copies of volume 2 (Travels in Yemen) of Niebuhr; the earliest Corpus des Inscriptions (with the modern versions); the 1898 Akademie der WissenschaftenReport on Socotra; and all National Geographic articles on the Yemen from 1909. This is arguably perhaps the most comprehensive collection on this subject that there is.

The collection is for sale at offers based on $37,500.An outline catalogue is available. It is hoped that a home for the collection could be found, firstly, in the Yemen; but if that is not possible, then it is hoped that other libraries in Arabia might find it of use.
